Prayer for Citizenship

On Saturday, April 27, 2013 IndyCAN Indianapolis Congregaton Action Network, Members of Congress, & Archbishop Tobin held a prayer event for an inclusive, fair, & direct path to Citizenship for 11 million aspiring Americans!

Members and leaders of the community shared their dreams and aspirations with invited members of Congress, including: U.S. Senator Donnelly, U.S. Senator Coars, Congresswoman Brooks, Congressman Messer, Congressman Rokita, and Congressman Carson rallying together to ensure a reasonable and attainable pathway to citizenship for 11 million aspiring Americans in the great United States of America.

Worship leaders inlcuded; Archbishop Tobin of the Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis, Bishop Gafkjen from the Lutheran Church, and General Minister and President Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Community leaders nd public held this peaceful prayer as a testament of the plight of a community eager to become part for some, of the only country they've ever known.  Citizens and non citizens alike held signs that read "I may be a dreamer but I'm not hte only one, there are ll million more of us" "Citizenshiip for all" and "We are all the same in God's eyes".

Andre Carson, US Representative for Indiana spoke in support of the reform stressing that "we need to make an impact and we should not stop until we get it" This even marks one of many that are leaders and community have been organizing to gain support and demonstrate that we are ll equal and all have the same dreams and goals and desire to be productive and valuable members of the United States, the country they love.
